Standards

Canadian standard vs United Kingdom standard?

differenceWhat’s the difference you are probably asking yourself or I didn’t realize there was a difference? Every country around the world has it’s own rules and regulations when it comes to standards in which products must meet. Canada is no different, everything from flavours, colours, additives and even packaging must meet the standards in which they are deemed Canadian. While there is nothing wrong with this it just makes the product different. The easiest way to determine if a product is of Canadian standard will be the French on the packaging as this is not a British requirement unlike here in Canada.

Ingredients

As soon as you change the ingredients you change the taste! If you are purchasing because of taste that’s one thing, if you are purchasing because you believe it’s all the same that’s another story. Don’t be fooled by products that are made in the United Kingdom but made to Canadian standard, which has different ingredients.

The Imported standard of any product is not the same as the standard in which the product is made for, for the home market. At the end of the day Cadbury makes brilliant products and no matter what country they maybe from and what your used to. All we want to do is bring some education to those that maybe interested.

If you look at the photo below you can see 2 versions of the same Cadbury Dairy Milk bar – this is where you change the ingredients you change the taste! By using diferent ingredients can you see the colour difference in these two.

Taste

eating caduryWhile we have used Cadbury Dairy Milk in our example this applies to many other products. There really are 2 main ingredient differences between British chocolate and there Canadian counterparts is: Whole Cream Milk vs. Skim Milk and the Cocoa Mass (higher fat content, fat gives you taste) which is why British Chocolate is much more creamier & tastier. While 1 may not be better than the other it just comes down to taste. It’s a bit of an Apple vs Orange thing, but you now know there are 2 standards. All products are not created equal!
